MESSAGE

As teenagers reach puberty, their hormones start working in full gear and their hygiene requirements change. It is essential that you are taught good hygiene to avoid potential medical problems and social exclusion that may result from poor hygiene. I will highlight the basics of good hygiene below:

- Bathe twice a day, ideally in the morning and immediately after you get back from an outing or before going to bed. Use a mild soap and concentrate on washing your face, hands, feet, underarms, and pubic area.

- Use deodorant after bathing to keep your armpit fresh because, at puberty, your sweat glands become more active, and the chemical composition of the sweat changes, causing it to give off a stronger smell.

- Wear clean clothes every day.

- Brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once every day to prevent holes in your teeth and bad breath.

- Shave off the hair under your armpits and on your pubic area to prevent unpleasant odour.

KEY POINT

Be intentional about maintaining good hygiene.

QUIZ

What does Jesus say about judging others?

HYMN 10 - O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST

1. O God, our help in ages past

Our hope for years to come

Our shelter from the stormy blast

And our eternal home.

2. Under the shadow of Thy throne

Thy saints have dwelt secure

Sufficient is Thine arm alone

And our defence is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood

Or earth received her frame

From everlasting Thou art God

To endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages in Thy sight

Are like an evening gone

Short as he watch that ends the night

Before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream

Bears all its sons away

They fly forgotten, as a dream

Dies at the opening day.

6. O God, our help in ages past

Our hope in years to come

Be thou our guard while trouble last

And our Eternal home.
